Six Great Months! :)

I have officially been on a mission for over six months. September 20th was the mark.

Zone Conference is this coming Monday/Tuesday (Back to Bari). Then General Conference! Next week is going to be awesome. :)

Alright, remember those three colorful apartment buildings? Well, we have some new investigators from those buildings! Woot!

One of them is this young single mother, and we visited her. She told us that the only reason that she had us come back after she had answered the door, was because we made a really good first impression on her, and that is really important to her. She said her first impression of us made her want to learn more about what we teach. Now she is reading the Book of Mormon, and we are going to see her again on Friday! :)

Between the time that we first knocked on her door, and when we came back, she was curious. Apparently she knows someone who lives in one of the other colorful buildings who knew missionaries. She went and talked to her, because she wanted to make sure she didn't offend us by offering something that we couldn't eat/drink. Haha so now she knows about the Word of Wisdom, and still wanted to meet with us. Phew.

Also, apparently everyone in those apartments talk. They all were talking about us, sharing experiences. Hahahaha. This investigator heard about how we knocked on someone's door at 7:30pm and he said it was too late (but he had us come back the next day). Hahaha. We are famous in this apartment community. :D

More people have been coming to English Course, so Sorella Bailey and I do splits with some members so that we can have another class. We are not supposed to have more than 12 people in a class so that people can learn better. It is really fun to teach. This new program we have sometimes incorporates gospel things into learning. For example, yesterday I taught how to pray in English. I thought people wouldn't want to learn it...but then I remembered that I'm not in America and prayer is completely normal here. Actually about a week ago, someone asked if the class could learn how to pray in English, and luckily it was already planned.
Also, one of my students wanted to know what "LOL" meant. The class got a kick out of learning that. :)

Anyway, I love All of you, and I hope this week is great!

Con affetto,

Pictures!

One of my last days at the MTC, holding the Italian flag.

The Anziani in my district at the MTC.

On the train/boat to Sicilia. Behind me was my original assigned area, Messina.

The view from the apartment in Catania.

Maria and her son Luca. She was my first investigator that we had found while in Catania.

One of the ward members in Catania made a torta. A Sorella (from my MTC district) and I enjoyed it.

Here I am on the train. I was kind of sick and out of it, but it was an exciting adventure.
One of my friends in the branch here in Cosenza pointed out that in this picture it looks like it is snowing outside. It was not.

The first night in Cosena. The Anziani had left some food for us, like pasta, but then we realized we didn’t have a lighter for the stove. I came up with the idea to microwave it instead, and we were able to eat that night.

Sorpresa eggs with Minnie’s face the right way

A member gave us this food from his bar as “payment” because I made him a Plan of Salvation poster.

My Companion and I with Donka at her baptism. Donka is from Bulgaria.

The Plan of Salvation poster I made for our ward mission leader.

Making pancakes for the Pancake Pow-Wow. A Sorella made the batter, I made sure the pans had batter in them, and an Anziano flipped the pancakes. I’m not exactly sure what the other Anziano did. Slept?

We found this paper on the ground after English class and the Anzianos imitated it.

The window was dirty on the train but the view was cool.

This is a passalong card. A lot of times when we give people the passalong card with Gesu on it, they kiss it. I thought it would be cool for you to see what we give out. Under Christ’s picture it says, “La fede porta speranza” which means “Faith brings hope.”

This is the back side of the card.

Weird ghetto giraffes.

Arancini after we cut it up and split it. It’s a specialty in Catania. DELICIOUS!

This is the English course publicity with some of our English class students.

End of Transfer 3

ALRIGHT! Transfer calls came and....Drumroll please....I am staying in Cosenza! :D
I have a different companion though. Her name is Sorella Bailey, and I have done exchanges with her before in Bari. She is one transfer older than me, and we already have some crazy stories of things that have happened to us in Bari.  Basically, I am super stoked.

Right now I am in Bari to pick her up, and then tomorrow we head back to Cosenza. As Sorella Greco was packing, I was thinking, "Man...just keep me in Cosenza forever! Then I won't have to pack!" I am just so happy I am staying. It is going to be really hard to leave the people here when that time comes.

This week Sorella Greco and I were able to see a lot of the people that have been gone on vacation! It was the best!

One of our investigators, Valeria,  is praying about baptism, for the date of Sept. 28th. (Pray for her!) She was the one who we miraculously found doing finding in an apartment building. (People here say that never works)
She has a little bit of fear of water, so she is nervous, but she knows it is something she needs to do. We asked her to pray about the Book of Mormon, and one of the things she asked was, "Why do I need to pray about it? Can't I just know it's true?" Hahaha.
We also have another investigator, that we asked about baptism, and she said maybe December. The ideal would be sooner, but at least she is not totally closed off to the idea.

We have had a lot of referrals lately, and I am super excited to find them and teach them. Basically, life is good in September. After every dark night, there is a dawn. After every August, there is a September. :D Hahahhahaha...

I love you all! Thanks for all that you do!

Love,

Sorella Worsham
