Today, something kind of big relating to my mission happened. Therefore, I decided today would be a good day to start the mission blog, because things leading up to the mission are important too!
Well, today I got a call from the MTC. It
was one of the teachers (Brother Taylor?), calling to see how well I speak
Italian. Apparently they call everyone who has had Italian experience to see
where they are at. Brother Taylor called in the morning while I was driving to
the airport, and unfortunately that meant that I had to wait all day to
actually have the conversation with him in Italian. I was a nervous wreck
pretty much the rest of the day. Luckily, in Italian class at BYU, we have to speak
forty minutes in Italian with another student each week, so I have had some
practice. I also prayed that I would be comforted, and that I would be able to
speak to the best of my ability. Heavenly Father let me know that no matter how
well or poorly I did with this conversation, that I had no reason to worry.
Heavenly Father would put me where I am supposed to be. Luckily, it went well.
Brother Taylor and I had a pretty good
conversation in Italian, and afterwards he said that he was impressed with my
handle on the language, and that I would be a really great help for my companion
and district. Oh, well that is encouraging. Phew.
Anyway, thirty days until MTC time!
Right now I’m in block classes at BYU
(Italian being one of those) that end on February 27th. After that,
it will be a mad dash to move out of the dorms, and really start getting all my
things together to actually leave for the MTC.
